our vision

A thriving Whakatāne where every neighbour is seen, heard, and equipped to flourish—with dignity, choice, and belonging. He ao tuwhera mō te mana, te kōwhiringa, me te noho tahi.

our mission
We mobilise neighbourliness to relieve hardship and grow resilient families by restoring dignity, creating choice, and building pathways to independence—through practical support, collaborative partnerships, and community participation”
How we live this out:
  • Dignity through choice: Low-cost groceries with free incentives, not charity hand outs
  • Neighbourliness reimagined: Welcoming spaces where people are seen, heard, and valued.
  • Partnerships that multiply impact: Working with local groups, businesses, and agencies
  • Participation with a voice: Co designing solutions, so people have “skin in the game.”
  • Pathways, not just moments: From immediate relief to sustainable, self-led outcomes.
Our main aim is to “have a heart” for all people no matter what their cultural background, past or present circumstances. Our main rule is to provide acceptance, love and forgiveness. We are committed to valuing each and every person equally and providing each one the equal right to be accepted and nurtured as a part of the community.

Relationships – Making Connections

At the heart of everything we do is the belief that people matter. We intentionally create spaces where individuals feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether it’s through a conversation, a shared meal, or a supportive program, we foster genuine relationships that nurture trust and belonging

Partnerships – Collaborating & Initiatives

We believe that lasting change happens when we work together. That’s why we actively build partnerships with local organisations, businesses, and community leaders to share resources, skills, and opportunities. Through collaboration, we strengthen the impact and sustainability of our initiatives.

Neighbourliness – Being Reimagined

In a world that often isolates, we’re reimagining what it means to be a good neighbour. We cultivate a culture of care, where people look out for one another, offer practical help, and build inclusive communities. Neighbourliness is no longer just about proximity—it’s about presence and participation

Equality – Celebrating Our Differences

We honour the dignity of every person, embracing the richness that diversity brings. Our programs are shaped by a deep respect for different backgrounds, experiences, and cultures. By creating equitable spaces, we celebrate what makes us unique while championing the shared humanity that unites us.
